Nastaran Fatemi, M.D. to Chair Panel at Annual ISEMIR Conference
CME Course to Focus on Utilizing Imaging in Clinical Care of Rheumatoid Patients
LOS ANGELES, March 26, 2014 – RadNet, Inc., a national leader in providing high-quality, cost-effective, fixed-site outpatient diagnostic imaging services through a network of 250 owned and/or operated outpatient imaging centers, announced that Nastaran Fatemi, M.D., RadNet Medical Director for Southern California, will chair a panel discussion at the 7th Annual CME Conference of the International Society for Musculoskeletal Imaging in Rheumatology (ISEMIR).
Numerous musculoskeletal diseases affect millions of American patients each year, with approximately 1.3 million, or one percent of the adult population, suffering from rheumatoid arthritis (RA) alone. In recent decades, MRI and ultrasound have emerged as useful tools in the diagnosis and monitoring of rheumatoid arthritis and other musculoskeletal diseases. The 2014 ISEMIR Annual CME Conference aims to bring together rheumatologists, radiologists and other health care professionals for the purpose of advancing the art and science of imaging as applied to musculoskeletal diseases.
With her sub-specialty training in musculoskeletal imaging and more than 10 years’ of experience working with rheumatologists and rheumatoid patients, Dr. Fatemi was selected by ISEMIR to chair an interactive panel focused on the utilization of imaging in clinical care.
“The diagnosis and assessment of rheumatoid arthritis, especially in the early stages of this progressive disorder, can be challenging for the practicing clinician,” says Dr. Fatemi, who also serves on the Board of Directors for ISEMIR.
“Because significant damage can occur in the first two years after the onset of the disease, early recognition and treatment of RA is particularly crucial to achieving optimal clinical outcomes. Knowledge of imaging modalities – for instance, knowing when ultrasound is appropriate as opposed to MRI and when both are appropriate in conjunction – is an integral part of providing clinical care for rheumatoid patients.”
The ISEMIR 2014 Annual CME Conference will be held April 11-14 in Santa Monica, Calif. at JW Marriott Santa Monica Le Merigot.
