What Is Low-Dose CT Lung Screening?
Low-dose CT is a quick and painless screening tool that uses low doses of radiation, comparable to a mammogram, to make detailed images of your lungs. These images are used to detect lung cancer at its earliest stages.
It is estimated that 80% of lung cancers are caused by smoking. And that 1 in 14 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer in their lifetime.* Screening with low-dose CT can help detect lung cancer at its earliest stage, which can result in better outcomes. In fact, people who undergo low-dose CT lung screenings have a 20% reduced risk of mortality compared with individuals who receive chest x-rays alone.
