New lower dose 3D mammograms now available at American Radiology Services

This new form of 3D mammography delivers 45% less radiation and brings the breast compression time down to 4 seconds.

As with other forms of 3D mammography, or tomosynthesis, its three-dimensional view of the breast tissue helps radiologists better identify breast lesions without the confusion of overlapping tissue seen in traditional 2D mammograms.

Breast tomosynthesis is appropriate for all mammography patients, and is especially valuable for women receiving a baseline screening, those who have dense breast tissue and/or women with a personal history of breast cancer.
