VRI Samaritan Breast Center Announced as an ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

The VRI Samaritan Breast Center has been awarded the distinguished designation of Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

We believe this designation exemplifies our commitment to help San Jose area women with their breast imaging needs. As of November 10, 2014 VRI Samaritan Breast Center is the only medical imaging center in San Jose designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the ACR.

Breast Imaging Center of Excellence Designation

The breast imaging services at our center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided breast biopsy and breast MRI. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that our facility has achieved high practice standards in:

Image quality
Personnel qualifications
Facility equipment
Quality control procedures
Quality assurance programs

The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., is a national organization serving more than 32,000 members committed to facilitating radiology’s ability to improve patient outcomes. Members include diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology, as well as the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
