Procedure Spotlight - Tummy Tuck

Abdominoplasty, also known as a Tummy Tuck, flattens and improves the shape of the abdomen and waist by tightening muscles and removing excess fat and skin.

The best candidates are those with loose abdominal skin and/or laxity of the abdominal wall, often caused by pregnancy, weight loss or lack of response to diet and exercise.

There are 2 types of tummy tucks that can be performed:

Mini

Mini tummy tucks can be performed in those who have limited amounts of excess skin. This procedure results in a relatively small scar in the pubic region.

Full/Standard

Full or standard tummy tucks, involve removing a more substantial amount of excess skin. The horizontal scar in the pubic region is slightly longer than the scar of a mini tummy tuck. We will help determine the best procedure for you.

The procedure takes approximately two to five hours and can be performed with general anesthesia or local anesthesia with a sedative. Recovery time ranges from two weeks to a few months. With a balanced diet and regular exercise, results are long-lasting. Abdominoplasty will likely leave a permanent scar stretching between the hips, although it should be low enough for even a bikini to conceal it.
