Mark Alson, MD, FACR was raised in the San Fernando Valley and graduated from the University of California, Irvine before attending medical school at University of California, San Diego. He completed an internship in San Diego, and a radiology residency at Stanford, before completing a cross-sectional fellowship in CT, MRI, and ultrasound at a U.C. San Francisco program at San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Alson served as president of the California Radiological Society in 2010. He was awarded the honor of Fellowship in the American College of Radiology in 2011.
When he finished his training, he and his wife decided to move their young family to Fresno. When they had climbed Half Dome on their honeymoon, they fell in love with Yosemite. They were also impressed with the schools and the family-friendly environment of the Central Valley. Fresno proved to be an excellent place to raise a family.
Dr. Alson joined a group formerly called FICMG, which became Sierra Imaging Associates in 2004. He has served as President of the group since 2004. Dr. Alson is involved in all aspects of women’s imaging, from breast imaging and intervention to obstetrical ultrasound, to CT and MRI, to oncology imaging.
Dr. Alson and his wife have been married more than 28 years and have two wonderful adult children. Both he and his son remain active in many aspects of Boy Scouts and are both proud to be Eagle Scouts.
