Our team is dedicated to providing convenience, comfort and peace of mind for women seeking breast care.

Breast Imaging Services

With one in eight women now suffering from breast cancer at some point in their lives, getting the most advanced breast screening, diagnosis and treatment is more critical than ever.

Our full-service breast centers offer comprehensive breast imaging services and have been designated Breast Centers of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR), signifying we meet the highest standards in a variety of breast imaging exams.

3D Mammography

3D Mammography is an FDA approved exam that looks and feels like a “regular” or 2D Mammogram. An x-ray arm scans over the breast creating multiple 3D image slices that allow each section of the breast tissue to be seen more clearly by the radiologist. A patient can elect to add 3D onto their 2D screening exam or your physician might prescribe it if you are being seen for a diagnostic exam.

Research is concluding that 3D mammography is beneficial to patients who have a high breast density, finds 20-65% more invasive breast cancers compared to 2D alone and provides better, earlier breast cancer detection.

Breast Ultrasound

Ultrasound uses sound waves to painlessly examine breast tissue and evaluate blood flow in the breast. During a Breast Ultrasound exam, a gel will be applied to the skin and then a technologist will maneuver a wand over your tissue to obtain the images.

It is useful for women with dense breasts or for evaluating suspicious areas seen by mammography or felt during a breast exam.

Breast MRI

Breast MRI helps to detect small lesions sometimes missed by mammography – without using radiation or compressing the breasts. MRI uses powerful magnets and radio waves to take very clear pictures of soft tissues, so it can be extremely useful in breast imaging. At the start of the exam, the patient may be injected with a dye (contrast agent) and then will lie face down on a padded scanning table placing both breasts into a hollow depression in the table. During the exam, the technologist will be in constant communication.

Breast MRI is beneficial as a screening exam, for staging possible breast cancer, determining appropriate treatment and monitoring treatment effectiveness.

Cyst Aspiration and Biopsies

To further help diagnose (or treat) breast lumps or suspicious findings, a range of minimally invasive procedures are performed by our expert breast specialists.

  • Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA)

  • Ultrasound-Guided Breast Biopsy

  • Stereotactic Breast Biopsy

  • MRI-Guided Breast Biopsy

  • Wire Localization of Breast Lesions

  • Core Needle Biopsy

Using one imaging modality or another for guidance (the modality used is determined by the concern) a radiologist will withdraw fluid or tissue sample from a cyst or lesion. This relieves discomfort and also confirms diagnosis by sending the fluid to a laboratory for evaluation.
